Our New Tree

In the spring, Cedar Hills was selling big trees for really cheap so we decided to get one. Kellen had to go get it out of "a mud hole" and wasn't very happy when it took him a long time to pick it up but I made up for it later, you'll see.

The tree was so big that we didn't have a way to get it out of the truck so my Dad and Joe came to the rescue. . .

Kellen had such an awful day picking up the tree and was so fed up with the whole situation that he was ready to hand over the project to me until I rented one of these. . .
He was a kid in a candy store. He was grinning like that most of the time. Kellen quickly learned how to maneuver the mini excavator and was driving around. Here he is making sure he's about to put the tree in the right spot. (I did Blue Stake by the way).

But then he started to dig other holes and was wishing he had more trees to plant. (If medical school doesn't work out, he could always have a career as an equipment operator. ) Kellen found a good spot to dig by the mailbox that was a weed patch.

The mailbox did make it through Kellen's fun (with the exception of a slight wiggle) and we ended up pouring concrete there later so it was a good spot for him to play.

It's a little mangy and needs to be pruned but we are happy about our tree. The grass is mostly recovered now too. Thank you to Kellen, Dad, Joe, Barb (for supervising the digging while I went to work) and Zane!
